Green Hills Butterfly Farm

Green Hills Butterfly Farm is home to hundreds of species of butterflies of various colors and patterns. It is the largest live butterfly display in Belize. There is also a collection of more than 120 botanical plant species, some vital for the butterflies to thrive. Birding is exceptional here with over 200 species recorded.
Green Hills has a small gift shop and guests are welcome to use our covered picnic spot furnished with tables and seats.
Blue Morpho Butterfly Farm

The Blue Morpho Butterfly Farm is one of Belize’s major attractions. The life cycle, from egg, to caterpillar, to pupa, to butterfly can be observed at every stage.
Museums of Belize
Half Day
Departure: 8:00 am – Drive time: 40 minutes
A two hour drive along the Western Highway will take you into Belize City where we’ll make our first stop at one of the first Anglican Cathedrals to be built in Central America.
The next stop take us to the Cultural House Museum which in the past served as the Governor’s House who conducted several British celebrations on the grounds. However, it currently serves as a museum depicting the Creole and Garifuna Cultural groups.
We then take a panoramic ride through the center of the city making picture taking stops in front of the Supreme Court of Belize and the Swing Bridge. We then arrive on the North Side of the City where we visit the Baron Bliss Lighthouse followed by the Museum of Belize which at one point used to serve as the Central Prison in the country. In this Museum you can enjoy the collection of pictures from the different periods in the Belizean History such as Hurricane Hattie, the Logging and Chewing gum Industry, as well as a wide collection of Belizean stamps and Currency. You then continue to the upper floor which has a demonstration of different Mayan relics encountered during excavation periods at the various archaeological sites in the country.
Our last stop before our return our trip to the hotel is the Old Belize Museum here you first have your lunch and then take the tour of the Museum which represents the different Industrial and exploitation periods in the country with the Mahogany, Chewing Gum, and Dye Industry. It also has a display of the Cultural Groups such as the Mayas and the Garifuna. You finally exit reliving the famous Albert Street in Belize City.
Mountain Pine Ridge
Half Day
Departure: 8:00 am – Drive time: 40 minutes
We arrive at Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve where we take a 5 minute walk to Rio Frio Cave and spend about 45 minutes exploring inside. We then move on to a 15 minute hike to the entrance of Closing Jaw Cave for an hour of exploring underground, admiring the different formations, and looking at bats. Your morning will end after a 20 minute drive to the Pinol Sands Waterfall for a swim in the refreshing water followed by an appetizing picnic prepared by the hotel.
Full Day: To complete your evening you can add a visit to the Green Hills Butterfly Farm on your return trip to the Hotel or Zip lining at Calico Jacks Canopy Tour
Mayan Cultural Experience
Half Day
Departure: 8:00 am – Drive time: 40 minutes
Immerse yourself in the Mayan Culture. You start your experience after a 45 minute drive to the village of San Antonio. After an introduction of the Women’s Group and the history of the village, you then learn to make handmade corn tamales- from the grinding of the corn to the wrapping of the tamales on plantain leaf. You then proceed with a tour of the village’s self sustainable home system. From the growing of crops and domestication of animals to the production of their own bio-gas, you will have an authentic Mayan experience.\
After the tour you get your hands dirty with clay as the women teach you how their ancestors produced clay pottery hundreds of years ago. After you complete your clay product you then have the opportunity to enjoy your handmade hot tamales. Before departing the grounds you’ll have time to look into the Women’s Group Gift Shop for souvenirs.
Full Day: Another 15 minutes drives takes you to either Pacbitun Archaeological Site or Green Hills Butterfly Farm.
Belize zoo
Half Day
Departure: 8:00 am – Drive time: 40 minutes
The Belize Zoo is approximately 1 hour away from Mahogany Hall, a scenic drive on the George Price Highway. They have a wide variety of mammals, species of birds, amphibians and reptiles, native to Belize. The zoo is a haven for rescued animals. The experience is up-close and personal and fascinates all your senses
